What exactly does AFK Assistant do?
AFK Assistant keeps your computer active while you're away from your keyboard. It simulates natural mouse movements, keyboard activity, and scrolling so your status never flips to "idle" or "away" in the apps and time-tracking tools that monitor your activity.
Is AFK Assistant detectable by monitoring software?
No. AFK Assistant runs without any visible windows and generates randomized activity patterns that are indistinguishable from real human behavior, so monitoring and time-tracking software simply sees you as active. It doesn't appear in a "used apps" report.
Which operating systems does AFK Assistant support?
AFK Assistant is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux — including both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and all major Linux distributions. See the macOS page for details on Mac support.
What's the difference between the Basic, Pro, and Ultimate plans?
Basic ($7/mo) covers mouse and keyboard simulation. Pro ($14/mo) adds scrolling, application switching, and browser tab switching. Ultimate ($21/mo) adds auto-run when idle, scheduling, and priority support. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Can I customize AFK Assistant's activity patterns?
Yes. Nearly every action is adjustable — clicks per minute, fast and slow mouse movements, typing speed and source, scrolling distance and pauses, and how often the app switches between fast and slow patterns. Randomized ranges keep the activity from following a detectable rhythm. The documentation walks through every setting.
Will AFK Assistant interfere with my normal computer use?
No. AFK Assistant uses non-conflicting keyboard events and detects the moment you return to your device, automatically pausing so it never types into your documents or fights your cursor.
Does it work with multiple monitors and different keyboard layouts?
Yes. Simulated cursor movements work across all connected monitors, and keyboard simulation is layout-agnostic — it uses safe, non-conflicting key events that work with any keyboard layout or language.
How does the auto-detect idle feature work?
Idle detection monitors your device for inactivity. When you haven't touched the keyboard or mouse for a threshold you set, AFK Assistant automatically starts simulating activity, then stops the moment you return. Idle detection is included in the Ultimate plan.
Will AFK Assistant slow down my computer?
No. AFK Assistant is built to use minimal system resources and has virtually no measurable impact on performance, even running in the background for a full workday.
Is customer support available if I need help setting up?
Yes. Our support team can walk you through setup, including tuning AFK Assistant to run alongside a specific time-tracking tool. Pro and Ultimate plans include faster, priority support.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes. Every plan includes a 7-day free trial with full access to that plan's features, and no credit card is required to start.
Can it switch between apps and browser tabs?
Yes. Pro and Ultimate can automatically switch between your open applications and cycle through browser tabs, with randomized timing and tab counts so the behavior looks like natural multitasking.
